Obituary for Millard J. "Perk" Perkins

PERKINS, Millard J. “Perk” – of Clio, age 93, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Funeral services will be held 1PM Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Dale Lewis officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Flushing Baptist Church – Youth Summer Camping Fund at Cobeac.

Perk was born June 25, 1924 in Flint, Michigan to the late Mandred and Roseanna (Hess) Perkins. He attended many specialized schools in welding, sheet metal layout, mechanical drafting, mechanical and diesel. Perk married Ilah E. Bell June 24, 1944 in Muskogee, OK. They enjoyed 73 years together. Mr. Perkins worked as an Army Motor Sgt., From 1943-1946. Perk later worked as a Millwright for JB Webb before joining General Motors – Truck & Bus. He was a Millwright for Truck & Bus and a Skilled Trades Supervisor for 30 years before retiring in 1977. After retirement, Perk and his wife rebuilt 54 totaled automobiles. He enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, and Hess Trucks. Perk also enjoyed speed in cars, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. NASCAR was a huge enjoyment. He was a very active member of North Flushing Baptist Church.

Surviving are: Wife, Ilah Perkins; Sons: Ron (Nancy) Perkins, and Larry (Sheryl) Perkins; Grandchildren: Michelle (Matt) Long, Renee (Doug) Wilkinson, Jeremy (Rachel) Perkins, Breanna Kane; Great-grandchildren: Brandan and Brittany Ronk, Zachary, Sydney, Riley, Benjamin, and Jonathan Wilkinson; Beloved cat, Scooter; Niece, Deanna Shipman; Nephew, Bill (Patty) Darby; Many other loving family members and dear friends. Perk was also preceded in death by his sister. The family would like to thank Amber and Marcie with Kindred Hospice for all their love and care.
