Obituary for Richard B. Thompson

THOMPSON, Richard B. Sr. – of Flint, age 85, died September 1, 2018 in Hale, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11AM, Friday, September 7, 2018 at West Vienna United Methodist Church, 5485 W. Wilson Road, Clio. Family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 11AM until 8PM and at the church on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or West Vienna United Methodist Church.

Richard was born June 27, 1933 in Chazy, New York to the late James and Carol (Barber) Thompson. He attended Beecher High School. Richard married Carol Winterlee on May 2, 1953 in Mt. Morris. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2017. Richard proudly served in the United States Army. Mr. Thompson retired from General Motors in 1993 with 30+ years of seniority and was a member of UAW Local #598. He was also a member of West Vienna United Methodist Church for 60 years. Richard was the Scout Master of Tall Pine Council Troop #68 for 26 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and singing. Most of all he cherished participating in the Scouts.

Surviving are: Children: Richard (Peggy) Thomson Jr., Pat (Gil) Bossie, Rev. Karen (Lawrence) Williams, Jim (Carolyn) Thompson, and Michelle Thomas (Rod Klatt); 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and two on the way; Step mother, Louise Thompson; Half-brother, Ron (Lydia) Thompson, and half-sister, Pam Joyce.
